The top
surfaces of the tables are made with various timbers and varying
grain patterns. Reclaimed wood gives a lovely old aged and rough
look (often the really rough ones look the best when lacquered!),
and they darken superbly when given a clear glassy lacquer. We source new new hard woods locally in Falmouth and construct the wood table tops to your specification. (contact us)
We are now able to offer fantastic solid table tops even more affordibly, made from beautiful hard woods they can be 26mm or 40mm thick as standard, and have lovely thick 40mm wide staves (staves are the individual blocks that make up the table top). Images of these table top woods are below. Click a wood table top image to enlarge it and see more details on the wood itself. Staved table tops are very strong and more stable than long planked tops, they give a very smooth seamless table top. They are also less expensive than solid long planked table tops as they are made of smaller individual pieces of hard-wood beautifully joined together.

Any materials such as butchers block, architectural ply, melamine or solid timbers like the ones above can
be used for your table top, and many interesting patterns can be made if smaller hard-wood blocks are used. If you have an idea for your table let us know. We usually have at least
one table for sale 'as is' for you to view in person or purchase straight away.
Our wood table tops are made to sit very slightly proud of the stainless steel frame (table base)
by about 1-2 mm this keeps the design clean, modern and minimal.

The final
finishes can be anything you want (stained, waxed, oiled, varnished, lacquered). However we can't recommend enough
our beautiful rich lacquer as a finish. It is VERY hard wearing (the
manufacturers produced it for bar tops that receive a lot of
wear and tear). It dries very hard, and is a reflective as glass.
The lacquer can even be made to ripple and look cracked, for
that old 'untidy knarled' look. Our high gloss lacquers are so reflective, the tables look wet when dry!
